At some point I told Jeanne that I wanted to have my own family. She did not want more children. Together with everything else that had happened over those years, we decided to separate. I moved out and rented a room in a house in Weston, not far from the station. We stayed in touch and the parting was without bitterness.
I have always remembered Jeanne as one of the best people I have ever met. She recently sold the Sherborn house and moved to an assisted living community in New Hampshire, close to where Alan lives. She is 94 years old and in good health. We exchange emails once in a while.
